# How do I set or change my leverage on a market?

Set your leverage per market (up to that market's maximum) in the interface or via the API to ensure that any actions you take on the market maintain sufficient margin on your positions so as to avoid exceeding your target leverage.

Adjusting the leverage slider on a market after opening a cross-margined position will not affect your liquidation price for that position.
